My little sister Joni has always been my muse, as cheesy as that sounds. She's so photogenic, I can connect to her through the camera, and if I work hard enough then I can get her to laugh. That allows me to grow, so I've always loved taking her outside whenever I had the chance to photograph some random portraits.
Throughout the past year we have accumulated a large pile of photographs, and perfectly in-time for her senior year.
Let's start in the spring of 2017. The day was super sunny (pretty exciting for spring in the Upper Peninsula) and I was craaaving to get outdoors. So we literally stepped out my little back patio.
Then I got married, moved away, but Joni came to visit like two months later. Thank goodness because the portrait session was overdue. I lived about six miles from North Topsail Island, so we headed there for an evening session, and she KILLED IT. Not to mention the light was dreamy.
In the last photo right above, I asked Joni to look past me. She burst out laughing, so I had to turn around to see what was so funny.
This was what was behind me, hahaha.
Senior portrait sessions are such a breath of fresh air. Whenever I do one I'm thinking "WHY don't I do that more often?!" They have so much opportunity for creativity, and seniors are so easily to get along with (not to mention, easy to work with).
Seniors, bring your A-game to your session. Wear your favorite clothes, something that makes you feel confident and like your best self. Drink a cup of coffee to get amped up, if that's your thing, and just plan to have a good time! Your senior session is ALL YOU.
