I couldn't write a better love story/fairy tell. Literally nobody's love story is more endearing and precious than this one (okay, I'm a little biased because I believe MY love story is pretty great too ;)
But really. Brent and Lacy met when she first moved to the area in 9th grade. Possibly before that, because she was always visiting on summer vacation (and hanging with her bomb best friend = me).
Brent was part of our little "crew." He was friends with all of us, and especially Lacy. After a rough breakup Lacy went through, they finally started flirting and it was SO obvious they had a thing for each other. Lacy, if you're reading this, you know I am right and I love you.
A full summer of flirting, a fall of some hanging out, then finally these two started dating. When I heard the news it was like "WHAAAT?! Yayyy!!!," but then "well, obviously, these two are perfect together" went through my head. And I mean MADE for each other. He adores her every move, she believes he walks on water and that is EXACTLY how it should be.
So yes I was sooo excited when they announced their engagement (and also she asked me to be her Maid of Honor and photographer). The engagement was freaking adorable. She went overseas for Christmas, and then when she got home from Sweden Brent popped the question.
Here's the gorgeous ring!!
Let's talk about their wedding now. Lacy has a very distinct, vogueish style about her and I expected nothing less when it came to her wedding. I expected unique colors, lots of different fabrics, but overall very glam. I was 100% accurate. This wedding was a DREAM to photograph.
Lacy was living with her aunt at the time, and her aunt was house-sitting a gorgeous home in Hancock. The home was an old home that was likely built during the era of the mines (or even before) and I was SOOO excited to be shooting inside it.
The night before her wedding Lacy, Mariah, her cousin Jackie and myself all stayed the night in this beautiful home. I picked up muffins from Roy's Bakery in Houghton (they have the most AMAZING GF MUFFINS!), and coffee from the Steep and Brew drive-thru, and then woke up the bride for breakfast in bed. Mariah and I then made eggs and bacon, and we ate while we watched a video Mariah had created of us*. There is nothing more emotional than watching a video that documents the last four years of your closest friendships. We were literally crying.
*let me explain. Mariah has been videotaping our group activities since we all started hanging out. This includes random hangout sessions, fun activities, road trips, bonfires, everything.
We then moved the party upstairs. We continued to watch the video while Lacy and Holly started doing her hair. Our friend Hannah also joined the hangout session, so it was a lot of chatting, reminiscing and coffee.
Check out the finished product, freaking stunning.
This was also the perfect time to get some of the gorgeous detail shots.
Isn't that glass incredible? And her dress..I loooove the lace detail.
Once we helped Lacy get into her dress, I took her throughout the house and got some portraits of just her and her dress before Brent showed up.
Did I mention the letters? Lacy and Brent decided to write letters to each other to read before they saw each other for the first time. I'm sure this has been done like a million times, but I really loved it with these two because it wasn't faked. This moment was so real and touching, pretty much all of us girlfriends had tears in our eyes. And that FIRST LOOOK!! I literally was choking up. I snapped a couple photos and then let them have a couple moments alone.
We did some portraits of these two before the rest of the wedding party and family showed up. These two are effortless in front of the camera. Lacy is just soo easy to photograph and Brent is so in love that it makes for an easy session.
Anyway, wedding days are also about celebrating with family-n-friends, right? We decided to do formal photos on the front porch (with the amazing columns), but it was FREEZING out. I also almost got impaled by the ice falling from the roof.
Anyway, they got married and it was emotional and happy and the entire church was buzzing with this happiness and love. And it was a VERY busy day, but nothing keeps you occupied like being the Maid of Honor and a photog ;) I wouldn't have had it any other way.
Okay, a couple more photos. CHECK OUT THIS CAKE. It was handmade by Lois R. I can't get over the details of the wedding either.
I left after the wedding feeling sad, happy, excited for Lacy, excited for my own wedding, exhausted from the activity, and so, so thankful to have been a part of this incredible day. You could just SEE the love not only between these two, but from the outpouring of love shown through those who attended the wedding. So many hugs, tears, and so much happiness.
I wish nothing but blessings for these two as they move forward as a team in life. Adventure and growth as a couple awaits them and I couldn't be more excited for them.
